Portrait of Andrew Balcof

Andrew Balcof is a Los Angeles-based writer/director whose work explores belief, obsession, and the stories people tell themselves to make sense of the world. Working across horror, thrillers, and documentary, he gravitates toward morally complicated characters, heightened circumstances, and the uneasy space between perception and reality.

His feature documentary WAYUMI premiered in the U.S. Competition at DOC NYC, where it received a Jury Special Mention, and was acquired for North American distribution by Grasshopper Film. His latest narrative short, CONSPIRACY THEORY, was shot on 35mm and explores how insecurity and paranoia can escalate into violence.

Raised between Las Vegas and Southern California, Andrew brings a fascination with the contradictions beneath ordinary relationships and communities to his narrative work. His current feature slate includes THE ADULTS ARE TALKING, a supernatural suburban horror film, and RESONANCE, a grounded science-fiction thriller.

Club Xanadu is the creative banner for his films.
